My name is Eddy Jackson. I am a husband and father of four, including two recent Pinnacle graduates and two current PV students, and a candidate for the Paradise Valley School Board. As a parent and taxpayer, I have a vested interest in the district.
PVSchools has lost around 5,000 students since 2018. After closing two schools in 2019, the district closed three more schools this year - Sunset Canyon Elementary, Desert Springs Prep and Vista Verde Middle.
According to district records, there were 30,923 students in 2017-18. In 2023-24, there were 26,102 students, a decrease of 15.6%.
Of the 2,263 district kindergarten students in 2017-18, only 1,960 students were in 6th grade in 2023-24.
It's clear that families have lost trust in the district and decided to unenroll their students from PVSchools and consider other educational options.
We need district leadership that will have a customer-focused business approach to draw students back to PVSchools, instead of vilifying the families that opted to pursue educational options with charter, private or home schools.
We need to put Academics and Students First, not agendas. We need Accountability, Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency.
It's time for new leadership that won't just rubber stamp the recommendations of district administration and continue the failed status quo.
I humbly ask for your vote in November to Rebuild Trust in PVSchools.
Eddy Jackson, Candidate for Paradise Valley School Board
